I want to continue with the program - how do I
get signed up for a subscription? (I don't want to loose the information
I have in the 60 day trial version...)
When trying to do a repair on Microsoft Office Access 2003 Runtime, it asks for
a program called ACCESSRT.CAB.
How much will upgrades cost and how often will
they happen?
I tried to launch the program, but it gave me an
error message. The message was:Error# 2147319779
What is the suggested method for backup? How often?
The tutorials play the sound but not the video.
What is happening?
Will CBPF work with my POS system?
How will CBPF speed up my pull system when I receive
my comics on Wednesday?
What does CBPF do for me that I can't do for myself
already?
How do I deal with items received which Diamond
didn't invoice?
How do I deal with shortages/overages? How do they affect
the Weekly Report?
Who wrote this program, and when? How much does it cost?
Q. I want to continue
with the program - how do I get signed up for a subscription?
(I don't want to loose the information I have in the 60 day trial
version...).
A. To get signed up, just give me a call to work out
payment (785-827-1133).
Have no fear that you will lose your data. You keep the same
software and data after you subscribe. You just input a password
into the program and it keeps working beyond the 60 days.
There is a 7 day countdown to expiration that lets you know it
is time to subscribe. You don't need to subscribe before this
notice appears, but you are welcome to. Even if you let the trial
period lapse, your data doesn't disappear.
Q.When trying to do a repair on Microsoft
Office Access 2003 Runtime, it asks for a program called ACCESSRT.CAB.
A. Here is a copy of the
file. Download it to the directory requested in the error
message. Then try the repair again.
Q. How much will upgrades cost and
how often will they happen?
A. Upgrades will cost $150 for those who have purchased
the software. Major upgrades (e.g. 2.00, 3.00, etc.) will be determined
when that occurs. For subscribers, upgrades are free. I intend
to release upgrades on a regular basis. As long as WE
keep coming up with ideas to enhance CBPF, upgrades will continue.
I prefer to release small upgrades on a regular basis instead
of large upgrades infrequently. This will allow me to react more
quickly to suggestions or problems. It will also get those enhancements
into your store more quickly to be utilized by you, rather than
waiting 4 months for some arbitrary release date of a "scheduled"
upgrade.
Q. I tried to launch the program, but it gave me an error
message. The message was:Error# 2147319779: A
reference is Broken . . . database or project contains a missing
or broken reference to the file 'msadox.dll' version 2.8.
A. This error has to do with some Windows software which
is not on your computer that needs to be.
This is the link to the download
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6c050fe3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&DisplayLang=en
You will be installing MDAC 2.8. Press the ‘Continue’
button and it will step you through installing the software.
At that point the ComicBook Pull File shouldn’t give this
error.
Q. What is the suggested method for backup? How often?
A. It is important to backup CBPF on a regular basis. How often
is dependant on how much data you can afford to lose. Certainly
at least once a week. It might depend on how much of a paper trail
you keep so that you can recreate anything lost after the last
backup.
The easiest (and best) method is to copy the C:\Program Files\ComicBook
Pull File directory in your regular backup (If you did a custom
install and installed to a different drive or directory, then
use that drive/directory instead). CBPF is completely contained
in this directory. If there is a failure, or you replace a computer
or hard drive, install CBPF from your CD-Rom or the complete install
from this web site. Then copy the ComicBook Pull File backup directory
over the newly reinstalled directory.
BTW: This would also be the method to copy CBPF to a remote computer
(home?) that is not connected to you store computer. If you do
this you need to be careful not to make changes to customer data
on both systems simultaneously.
Q. The tutorials
play the sound but not the video. What is happening?
A. Video codecs are used to render videos. Unfortunately there
are different formats. Sometimes a computer may not have the codec
needed to render the video. K-Lite "Standard" Codec
can be found here.
After being installed the videos will play.
Q. Will CBPF work with my POS system?
A. Depending on what information you would like to exchange between
the POS and CBPF. There is exporting capability within CBPF and
there will be some importing capability in the near future. This
would require exporting/importing of files so would not happen
"on the fly".
It's possible that CBPF will work more directly with POS systems
in the future, but not at this time.
