Setup Program

These are setup options which should be changed rarely.

  • Tax Rate - Sales tax rate. Used to calculate pre-tax amount in the 'Customer' form and tax amounts on reports.
  • Cycle Sheet Length - Default length in months of how long the cycle sheets are for the cycle sheet report.
  • Cycle Sheet Chart Length - Default in months of a cycle sheet for an individual series to display on the chart in the cycle sheet form.
  • Bag Price - If you charge for bags, then this price will be automatically added on reports for those items marked as needing to be bagged.
  • Board Price - If you charge for boards, then this price will be automatically added on reports for those items marked as needing to be boarded.
  • Use Outlook E-mails (HTML) - If checked, you must be using Microsoft Outlook (provided in MS Office), for e-mails. This option allows you to include HTML tags in your weekly emails to customers. If you are not successful at sending emails, unchecking this option is one of the first things to try in diagnosing the problem.
  • Temp path - This is a path on your hard drive where you want to allow CBPF to read and write temporary files.
  • Item descriptions - The following options apply to the Item Description field when importing the Previews file each month
    • Default - No changes are made to the Item Description field on importing the monthly Previews file
    • Truncate - Remove all text in the field beginning with the Issue Number. This option is mainly for UK users because Diamond still includes the issue number in the Item Description field, which doesn't allow Auto-Pulls to work.
    • Strip - Remove only the issue number and rebuild the Item Description for the piece to the left of the issue number and the piece to the right of the issue number. If there is no Issue Number in the Issue field, then place the one stripped from the Item Description into the Issue field. Occasionally Diamond includes an issue number in the Item Description, and this will correct it.
  • Auto Backup Method - The auto backup happens once per day that CBPF is used. It happens upon closing CBPF. Thus closing CBPF will take longer with this option activated. If CBPF is opened and closed several times in the same day, only the first time it is closed will it make a backup. If the computer is left on with CBPF left running all night, the backup will be created at midnight. If you activate this option you must also choose a Backup Path.
    • 0 - Do not auto backup
    • -1 - Keep an infinite number of backups with the date of creation of the backup in the name of the backup file.(e.g. ComicBook Pull File_be_20080618.mdb)
    • 1 - Keep only one backup. This is not a very safe choice, as if the power fails while creating the backup, both the backup and the normal file have the possibility of being corrupted.
    • 2 to any number typed in - Keep a history of backups (one per day) with the format ComicBook Pull File_be_1.mdb, with consecutive numbering. The file with number 1 will always be the latest backup, 2 will be the prior backup, etc.
  • Backup Path - where you want the backup files to be saved. This will commonly be on the hard drive, an external hard drive connected to the computer, a flash drive, or across the network on a network drive. Where you save it may be dependant on any other backup plan in effect. If you do a weekly backup of the hard drive to an external storage medium, then this path would likely be on you local drive. If you have no other backup plan in effect, you should have this path set for another storage medium than your local hard drive which contains CBPF.
  • Country - There are some differences in the Diamond international files for UK. If you receive the UK files from Diamond, set this option to UK, otherwise choose US.
  • Export Monthly File Path (1.11)- This is where the monthly exported file from CBPF to Previews on Windows is placed. It is normally placed in the C:\program files\Previews on Window or the C:\program files\Previews on Window\temp folder
  • Extended Format Weekly File (1.11)- The normal weekly Diamond file and the extended format weekly Diamond file have different formats. Check this box if using the extended format file. This applies to when using the Weekly Pull File tab>1. Import Weekly File.
