Customization of CBPFThis database was designed and implemented using Microsoft Access, therefore a user who knows how to use Access and owns the full version of Access can design his own forms/reports/queries using the back end tables which contain the data. Though this is possible it is discouraged because of possible unforeseen problems. This is not a task for the novice Access user. A better method would be to make a formal request to James Deckert to make changes to the ComicBook Pull File program. If a formal request has been denied, it is taking too long, or you have the experience and need highly specialized reporting, etc, the preferred method to accomplish this task is to create a new database which contains your new objects and link to the tables contained in the back end file (MDB) of the ComicBook Pull File program. Do Not add or modify forms, reports, queries, etc to the ComicBook Pull File system front end or back end. This will only cause you headaches, because when updates are copied to your system, any development which you have accomplished will be eliminated. If you want to make modifications to forms, reports etc, import the original into your new database, then make your changes. Under no circumstances should changes be made to the table structures. |
